COMMITTEES & SUBCOMMITTEES
The GCSC meets every other month. We set policy, make program decisions, get committee updates, and learn about new opioid issues. Anyone who lives or works in Gaston County can be a member of the GCSC.
COMMUNITY EDUCATION & PREVENTION COMMITTEE
creates GCSC programs and encourages local groups to start initiatives to help stop the opioid epidemic.
Hope in Recovery Subcommittee
Medication Take-Back Subcommittee
Opioid Prevention & Treatment Champions Subcommittee
helps faith communities and people of faith work to stop opioid use and substance use.
promotes local drug drop boxes and hosts medication take-back events with local law enforcement to stop the stealing of opioids from homes.
works with businesses to teach employees about OUD and offer OUD resources.
STEERING COMMITTEE
plans GCSC meetings, and manages governance and long-term planning.
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Subcommittee
builds GCSC awareness of past inequities in addressing substance use and works to remove bias in our work.
RECOVERY ADVOCACY COMMITTEE
works to make sure Gaston County has effective, accessible, and integrated treatment resources for people with OUD and SUD.
Residential Treatment Subcommittee
advocates for an affordable, high-quality residential OUD treatment for people who live in Gaston County.
